hi! i’m jamie, a mild-mannered fencerette with an admitted stripe problem!
i fence in Indy (Indianapolis), Indiana and the surrounding area (Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky) in the Great Lakes section of USFA. sure, i enjoy a large variety of colorful socks, but i don’t tend to wear them at tournaments. i fence epee (C09). sometimes foil (E07). rarely sabre (U). “stabbysox” was a handle created spur-of-the-moment for our club’s Yahoo Group, and i now use this to identify my blog and fencing photography online. simple yet effective!
i discovered fencing at 24 while hunting for a karate class at IUPUI in Indianapolis, to get in shape after the birth of my daughter (who is now 7). on an everyday basis i’m intensely immersed in my job at the university, a postdoctoral position in alcohol addiction research.
fencing is my favorite hobby, but i dabble in several others: biking, swimming, oil painting, sewing, saltwater aquaria, blogging, experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, and riding my motorcycle. i like hats.
you can also find me slinging a camera when i’m out or the weapons are all broken. :-)

I love your colorful socks. I think people who fence are awesome and I would like to go to a tournament some time to watch you in action. How do I find out more information?
why you leave a comment with an email attached, of course! :-)
Thank you for linking to our club site!
It was great meeting you and your club the other week. Real, old-school, friendly, helpful fencers.
Hey, there! Saw you’re following my blog. That’s pretty cool. I’m very new at blogging. How the heck did you find me?
My husband is in awe of fencing — tried finding a club in our area with no luck. Know any clubs in NE Georgia?
